Inspector General of Police, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Nawabzada Akbar Khan Hoti on Friday backed the business community idea for reactivation of Citizens Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) to proper tackle and address issues confronting businessmen, traders and industrialists in the province through a joint platform.
Speaking to businessmen, industrialists and traders during his visit to Sarhad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI) here on Friday, while responding to their different proposals and recommendations, supported the idea for revival of the CPLC, which would helpful to address issues of the business community.
Afan Aziz, president SCCI, Vice President Ziaul Haq Sarhadi, Abid Salam, executive members, and a larger number of businessmen and industrialists, Senator, and leader of Businessmen Forum, Ilayas Bilour were also present on the occasion. Regarding the retaining of special police force, he said that they don't have sufficient funds to continue with it, adding that owing the financial implications the special force was only deployed in Malakand division, district D.I.Khan and Peshawar.
He maintained it was not job of police to involve in counter terrorism, which need a proper special training like Para-military force. "Some matters and affairs being taken from the police and power transfer to other relevant departments, he informed, added that there are number of affairs were out of the police domain.
On complaint of the growing incident of kidnapping for ransom, he responded that a group was involved in this activity, saying that they are taking every possible step to get control on it. About the traffic issues, he said that a proper liaison and coordination would be handy to address the issue, adding that the idea of reactivation of CPLC was vital in this regard.
"We need to set together to address all those issue with mutual coordination and through proper forum", he stressed. Regarding the deficiency of police force, he said that they are working to pull out a significant of force deployed for elite and VVIPs. He said that security situation is improving with support and response of general public in province.
Regarding the provision of GSM trackers by the Interior Ministry, he said that there are two form of GSM tracker, including active and passive, saying that they have needed passive tracker to detect location and other substance, expected that hope that it will be soon available to them.
Earlier, Afan Aziz, in his welcome address acknowledged that police force sacrifices for establishment of peace. He said that despite the odd situation, business community had continued their businesses and faced all kind of hurdles with firm determination. He said the security situation is improving with the collective efforts of police and general masses, and business community. He stressed the need for developing of close liaison and coordination with police to address the issues confronting businessmen in the province.
