Ownership rights: industrial workers to be provided flats, says chief minister Punjab

The Punjab government had started various projects, including provision of shelters to the families of workers and labourers, who had been badly ignored over the past 64 years, said Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on Saturday.
Presiding over a meeting held regarding the labour welfare complexes, he said: "We believe in the dignity of hard work. Therefore, proprietary rights of residential flats in labour colonies will be given to industrial workers." He said that all modern facilities had been provided in the colonies. He said that community centers, mosques, hospitals, parks, vocational training centers and other facilities had also been made available in these colonies. The chief minister said that balloting for the provision of residential flats to labourers in the labour colonies of Lahore and Muzaffargarh would be held on May 1.
Shahbaz Sharif said the provincial government was providing residential and other facilities of high standard to labourers in Lahore, Multan, Muzaffargarh and other cities. He said that industrial workers of Lahore district would be eligible to apply for flats in the recently-completed labour colony having 1,296 flats. He said that five per cent quota has been allocated for the widows of the labourers in these labour colonies.
