Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Ahmad Raza Tahir has said that crackdown launched against illegal weapons to rid the city of crime and criminal elements should be further intensified. The CCPO said that comprehensive security would be ensured in provincial metropolis with the active co-operation of citizens.
He said that according to the facts and figures, during the first three months of the current year 2012, Lahore Police had registered 1,264 cases and arrested 1,264 culprits during the campaign against illegal weapons and recovered 11 Kalashnikovs, one Stangun, 34 rifle, 75 guns, 1,068 pistols, 37 revolvers, two carbine, one mouzer, 19 daggers, 98 magazines and more than 8,000 bullets. He said concrete steps were being taken to make police corruption-free in provincial metropolis, so that people could be assured of provision of prompt and timely justice.
