Negotiations between the Federal Revenue Alliance (FRA) employees union and Member Inland Revenue, Shahid Hussain Asad failed to end the strike being observed by the FBR employees for the last eight days to press the Board administration for acceptance of their demands.
According to the FRA employees union sources talks held between Member Inland Revenue, Shahid Hussain Asad and CBA union representatives. From the administration side, all Chief Commissioners of Lahore Region were also present in the negotiations.
Mian Abdul Qayyum, President Federal Revenue Alliance Employees Union (Regd) CBA Pakistan and Syed Naeem Abbas Shah, President FRA Union Lahore Region, amongst others, were present in the talks from the employees' side. Two sessions of the talks were held where the administration side principally agreed upon the demands of the employees but has shown their inability to sign any written MoU, FRA spokesman claimed. Resultantly the talks failed and FRA union leaders, while addressing the employees decided that strike in all over the country shall continue till their demands accepted by the administration.
Mian Abdul Qayyum, President FRA Employees Union announced that members of the union would observe hunger strike from Monday (tomorrow). It may be mentioned here that the FRA members were observing strike in offices against the proposal of promotion of senior auditors as Assistant Commissioner (Inland Revenue). Their other demands included that the carrier path in the services must be properly followed and in this respect the senior auditors be asked to file surety bonds/affidavits so that they would not file any case in the courts later on against this career path defined already.
Two orders ie putting Sr. Auditors as Unit In charges and the other one designating them as Assistant Commissioner Inland Revenue (OPS) be withdrawn immediately. An Inland Revenue Officer must be posted as Member (Admn). Inland Revenue Officers and Inspectors Inland Revenue also be upgraded to BS-17 and BS-16 respectively.
