Small and Medium Enterprises Develop-ment Authority (Smeda), as implementing partner of UNDP-funded project "Early Recovery and Restoration of Flood Affected Communities Programme" has distributed a grant of Rs 2.4 million among floods affectees in Hasara Hasinzai, district Charssada.
A grant of Rs30,000 distributed among each small enterpriser belonging to Union Council Hasara Hasinzai in a ceremony held here in Hasara Hasinzai, district Charssada.
The grant had extended to more than 80 small business enterprisers to revive their flood affected small businesses and reenergize economic activities in their respective localities.
The Smeda, National Programme Manager, (NPM), Sultan Mehmood Tiwana, the programme Provincial Co-ordinator, Noor Zeba, Co-ordinator Business Support Centre, district Charsadda, Adnan Khan, former Nazim, Sirtaj Khan, members of village advisor committee, notable of the areas and beneficiary of the project were present on the occasion.
Noor Zeba delivering welcome address explained the aims and objectives of the ER-project. She said that the project had practically executed in different flood affectees areas and extended all kinds of its benefits to deserving people.
She maintained that they had organised several training programme and awareness session under the project as per proposal and recommendations of the locals of the flood-hit areas.
She said that the grant had been extended following a proper scrutiny process to keep high transparency and fairness in its distribution.
Smeda NPM Sultan Tiwana speaking the occasion expressed the hope that the grant wasn't only support for reviving flood-affected businesses, but also helpful to bringing economic activities in the area.
He urged the beneficiaries to utilise grant in a proper way to pick up their flood-hit businesses, there was needed to maximum focus on business development of their respective areas, he added.
Tiwana suggested that different committees be formed on agriculture, livestock, handicraft, and other skill development work to get new ideas and proposal for development of businesses.
The notable and beneficiaries had extended special gratitude to UNDP-SMEDA for provision of financial assistance and expressed the hope to extend project to other parts of the district. Later, Sultan Tawana, NPM Smeda, distributed cheques among the beneficiaries.
