Ministry of Production has requested Rs 27.32 billion from Ministry of Finance for as many as 22 development projects for forthcoming budget 2012-13, it is learnt. According to sources in the Ministry of Production, funds for 10 ongoing and 12 new Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) projects for financial year 2012-13 have been requested.
The Ministry of Production requested Rs 26.72 billion for 10 on-going and Rs 540.1 million for 12 new projects in the coming budget. According to details, 10 ongoing projects include: establishment of turbines and power plant equipment manufacturing facilities at HMC, Taxila worth Rs 21.543 billion, development of marble & granite sector value Rs 2.277 billion, development project of Pakistan gems and jewellery development company of Rs 1.4 billion, establishment of design institute especially for energy sector plants by up-grading existing design centre of Rs 665.38 million, Peshawar Light Engineering Centre (PLEC) of Rs 230.55 million, Light Engineering Upgradation Center (LEUC) for SMEs in Balochistan of Rs 217.89 million, Hyderabad Engineering Support Centre (HESC) value Rs 223.59 million, establishment of Gems and Jewellery Training and Processing Center, Muzaferabad, AJK of Rs 59.92 million, Rs 50.35 million for each Mosaic, Handicraft and Inlays Centers (MHI) Buner and Mosaic, Handicraft and Inlays Center (MHI) SWAT have been demanded for next financial year.
Official sources said that a total of Rs 8.088 billion of local and Rs 13.454 billion of Foreign Exchange component (FEC) has been proposed for establishment of Turbines and Power Plant Equipment Manufacturing Facilities at HMC, Taxila worth Rs 21.543 billion.
The new projects proposed include: Rs 60 million for updating existing engineering infrastructure in view of trade with India, Rs 58 million for each technical/skills/IT training centre at South Punjab, technical/ skills/IT training centre at Sindh Sanghar, technical/ skills/IT training centre at Fata, technical /skills/IT training at GB, technical/ skills/IT center at AJK Muzaffarabad and technical/ skill/ IT training centre at Balochistan, Rs 50 million for each Indigenous Development of Surface Coal Gasification unit for Producing Coal Gas as and alternate fuel or industrial applications and Indigenous Development of Mini Hydro Power Plant for Off-Grid use, Rs 20 million for Human Resources Development in Marble and Granite Sector (Italian loan) and Rs 11.60 million for Rural Support Technology Centre.
