Senior Vice Chairman, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI), Shah Mehmood Qureshi, on Monday asked the government to take the masses into confidence whether the US accepts all the conditions linked to reopening of Nato supplies by the Parliamentary Committee on National Security (PCNS).
Addressing a press conference after attending a meeting at the residence of President PTI Peshawar region, Iftikhar Khan Jhagra, Qureshi said that the government and all the political parties, which boycotted the special proceeding of PCNS, should inform the masses whether the Nato supply route was being opened after the US's acceptance of all the conditions set by the committee or not.
Qureshi said that the US has not accepted the PCNS conditions. He said that at present the country is facing enormous security and economic challenges. "The corrupt rulers are busy in accumulating wealth and have left the poor masses at the mercy of others," he added. He further said that the government has failed to address all the key issues confronting the country.
Due to the flawed and poor monetary policies of the incumbent ruler, the county is facing financial crisis, he said. "The PPP-led coalition government didn't take any proactive step to resolve the energy crisis. The deteriorating law and order situation has adversely affected trade and business activities," he added. He condemned the storming of Bannu prison by militants, saying that the government has lost its writ as such incidents are occurring regularly in the country.
When asked about the ephedrine scam, Qureshi refused to comment saying that the matter was sub judice. However, he said, if the Prime Minister 's son, Musa Gilani, was not involved in the scam then he should prove his innocence in the court of law. On the occasion, PTI announced the names of party president for different regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the announcement, Iftikhar Khan Jhagra will be president of Peshawar region, Yousuf Ayub, Hazara region, Professor Sher Afghan Kakakhel, Malakand region and Hamayun Khan will be president of Southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region. PTI central leader Jahangir Tareen, President Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Asad Qaisar, Nawabzada Khawaja Mohammad Hoti, Pervez Khattak, and others were also present.
