Chief Minister, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Ameer Haider Khan Hoti has approved proposed development programme amounting to approximately Rs 5 billion for upcoming financial year and maintenance plan amount to Rs 750 million under Pakhtunkhwa Highway Authority (PHA).
The approval was given during 10th meeting of PHA and KP in Chief Minister's Secretariat on Tuesday. Those who attended were included Provincial Minister for Finance, Mohammad Hamayun Khan, Environment Minister Wajid Ali Khan, Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Attaullah Khan, Secretaries C&W and Forest Departments, Managing Director PHA, Mohammad Ijaz Yousafzai, Director Javed Ihsan, Farman Ali, Deputy Director Mohammad Uzair Khan, Ijaz Ahmad and other concerned officers.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that construction and rehabilitation of roads in the province is priority of the government while the efforts of PHA and officers and employees of C&W Department were also commendable. During discussion on 10th point agenda several important decisions were taken.
Managing Director, PHA presented detailed briefing on implementation on decision of 9th meeting, development schemes under PHA for next financial year, proposed maintenance plan, short name and logo for PHA authorities of PHA executive board, trees-cutting for widening of roads, approval of additional staff and performance of PHA. The meeting constituted a committee on cutting of trees, headed by Secretary Forests will prepare recommendations that will be presented within a period of 15 days to the government.
The chief minister directed ACS Attaullah Khan and Secretary C&W Engr. Zahid Arif to chalk out workable economic strategy on war footings for Swat Expressway in order to commence practical work on it.
The chief minister approved proposed development budget for the projects to be initiated under the supervision of PHA that included Charsadda-Tangi Road and conversion of Charsadda-Mardan Road into double carriage, widening of road from Chugalpura Interchange to Abdul Latif Zakori Flyover on GT Road and Mufti Mehmood Flyover to Budhani Bridge, improvement of Rustam Albela Road and widening and improvement of Hangu Doaba Road.
The proposed maintenance amounting to Rs 750 million and logo of PHA were also approved during the meeting.
Appreciating the achievements of the Secretary C&W Engr. Zahid and MD PHA, Enrgr. Mohammad Ijaz Yousafzai and entire staff, the chief minister that they had achieved the goals by working as a team which is commendable. He also hailed the performance of entire staff along with MD PHA and approved one month honoraria in recognition of the services and performance of the staff and assured that all needs and requirements of the authority will be fulfilled.
