Sindh police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested three alleged extortionists in separate raids and recovered weapons from their possession. According to police, two extortionists, who were identified as Imran and Inayatullah, were taken into custody after brief encounter at Abul Hassan Isphani Road, Metrovil III in the limits of Mobina Town police station.
SHO Idrees Bangash said the police party intercepted some three alleged extortionists when they approached Abdul Ghani, an owner of Al-Mecca Bakers to collect extortion. Resultantly, these alleged wrongdoers opened indiscriminate gunshots on police party to get escaped from the spot. In retaliation, one alleged extortionist namely Imran sustained bullet wounds and fell on the spot.
He said the accused Imran and his accomplice Inayatullah were nabbed after brief encounter while rest of the accomplice managed to flee from the scene. Police had recovered two TT pistols and Rs 5,000 from their possession. He said the accused persons used to pretend the workers of one of political parties to collect extortion. Similarly, Nippier police have also claimed to have arrested one more extortionist namely Yaseen alias Raju near Timber Market and recovered an extortion slip of Rs 50,000 and a TT pistol from his possession. SHO Imdad Khwaja said the accused person was allegedly involved in several cases of extortions and he was arrested on a tip-off. Further investigation was in progress.
