Following the prevailing law and order situation in the city, the Sindh police have moved a summary for the induction of 5,000 more policemen in Karachi. This was stated by Akhtar Ghorchani, Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Sindh Police during meeting with the representatives of timber market, Tariq road market and Saddar electronic market at their places. He also gave assurance to provide foolproof security against wrongdoers.
AIG Ghorchani said that although the police department is running short of staff, they had given positive results during last couple of months and detained some 65 extortionists including a notorious extortionist group in ongoing crackdown across the city. He said the summary regarding 5000 more policemen has also been moved to the concerned authority. He also dispelled the impression that the law enforcement agencies have started operation in Lyari, saying that the targeted raids are being conducted to root out the culprits from Lyari.
