Non-supply of water, power: residents of Qayyumabad stage protest demonstration

Residents of Qayyumabad on Tuesday staged protest demonstration to express resentment against non-supply of water and power during the last couple of days. According to eye-witnesses, the protesters after suspension of water supply in the area during last three days took to streets and blocked main arteries of Qayyumabad in the limits of Korangi Industrial Area police station.
They burnt tyres on roads and chanted slogans against the concerned authorities. The protesters also damaged some eight vehicles by pelting them with stones. Later, heavy contingent of police and paramilitary rangers rushed to the spot and dispersed the protesters. The eye-witnesses said the protesters called-off their protest demonstration after getting assurance from high police officials regarding the restoration of water and power supply. Nobody was reported hurt in the said protest.
