Small and Medium Enterprise Development Authority (Smeda) on Friday started imparting 'Business Management Skills' to the beneficiaries of Pakhtunkhwa Hunermand Rozgar Scheme (PHRS) to enable them in beginning successful entrepreneurship. The training was arranged in NCS University System Institute, University Town, Peshawar. Those who delivered lectures and training were included prominent business management consultant, Mohammad Tariq, Suhail Khan and others.
The provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has launched the self-employment scheme for facilitating the skilled youth of the province in earning honourable livelihood for their families. Under the scheme a soft loan amounting to Rs 0.3 million will be released to the skilled youth for initiating their own businesses. A total of 5000 skilled youth are likely to take benefit of the scheme.
In the first phase of Business Management Skills training about 40 participants hailing from district Peshawar were provided training. Speaking on the occasion, Provincial Chief, Smeda, Javed Iqbal Khattak said that the aims and objectives of the training were the capacity building of those who wanted to avail loan facility under the employment scheme.
Highlighting the importance of the training, he maintained that it would help the beneficiaries of the programme to run and manage their businesses in more successful manner. The Smeda chief urged the participants for the better utilisation of the skill for the successful running of their businesses and assured full co-operation to the upcoming entrepreneurs in this regard. The initiative, he said will help generate employment opportunities and urged the participants for better utilisation of the scheme. He als'o introduced, Mohammad Amin, chairman of NCS University System, as a successful story, who before initiating the project was an internee with SMEDA, Peshawar Office.
Appreciating the scheme, Javed Khattak said that it would help in eradicating poverty by enabling the skilful people to earn their livelihood in an honourable way. He said that SMEDA has submitted nine business plans to the Bank of Khyber and would help arrange the capacity building training in 25 districts of the province.
