India and Pakistan should promote brotherly relations and mutually demilitarise the dispute areas including Siachen Glacier, as it is in the interest of both countries, said the Indian Old Ravians while talking to media at press conference here at the Government College University Lahore.
GCU Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman and Old Ravians Union Secretary, Dr Khalid Manzoor were also present on the occasion and welcomed the 15-member Indian delegation which includes Indian Air Force Wing Commander Iqbal Singh (Retd), Major General Jaidev Singh Datta (Retd), Major General S. N. Talwar (Retd), senior bureaucrats Pran Nevellie, T.K Puri, Mahbub Luthra, Ashish Luthra, Rana Talwar, Moeena Cheema, Khushal Datta and Kanwal I. Singh.
Addressing the press conference at GCU, Major General Jaidev Singh Datta (Retd) said, "no Indian or Pakistani wants war, even army officials of both countries in their individual capacities believe that war is not a solution to any dispute, rather military ventures worsens the situation. After Indian, if there is any land in the world, we love, is Pakistan."
Indian Air Force Wing Commander Iqbal Singh (Retd) said that there was dire need of initiating student exchange programmes between India and Pakistan to promote love and friendship among the youth of both countries. Pran Nevellie said though he left Government College Lahore 68 years ago, but his heart has always remained there.
