The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman has agreed to suspend the condition of CNIC/NTN with regards to SRO-191 and also extended the date of filing the GST return up to April 25. He agreed to withdraw the condition after a lot of discussion with a delegation of business community comprising Siraj Kassam Teli, Chairman Businessmen Group and former President KCCI along with Mian Abrar Ahmed, President-KCCI, Tahir Khaliq, A Q Khalil, and Haroon Agar.
It was also agreed to constitute a committee of 12 members comprising four each from FPCCI, KCCI and LCCI to discuss and give proposals for broadening the tax net and documentation of the economy and it would have no links with SRO-191. Siraj Teli nominated on behalf of KCCI the names of Zubair Motiwala, Haroon Farooqi, A Q Khalil, and KCCI President Mian Abrar Ahmad.
The FBR Chairman also agreed and instructed to stop all actions with regards to the notices issued to taxpayers against fake/flying invoices and a committee was constituted to segregate those genuine businesses who had followed all legal formalities such as making payments by cheques etc not to involve them and give relief to them in this matter.
The delegation demanded to immediately rescind SRO 191(I)/2012 as this SRO was not implementable under any circumstances and as per commitment in the business persons council by the Finance Minister it should have been postponed by one month but the FBR did not do so. Siraj Teli also demanded to resolve the issue of notices issued to taxpayers regarding flying/fake invoices which has spread harassment in the business and industrial community.-PR
