A private airliner on Sunday suffered a tyre burst while landing at Karachi Airport. All the 122 passengers and six crew members on board had providential escape.
APP adds: The spokesman of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Pervez George said the Shaheen Air plane 737 coming from Islamabad landed at Karachi Airport at 12.16pm. On landing, one of the tyres on its left side of the plane had burst. However, all the 122 passengers and six crew remained safe, the CAA spokesman added.
He said the Director General CAA, Nadeem Khan Yousufzai, has ordered an immediate inquiry. The DG CAA also requested Pakistan International Airline (PIA) to help remove the aircraft from the runway so that it could be cleared for normal traffic, the CAA spokesman said.
The Karachi Airport runway remained shut for as many as eight hours. This was stated by a spokesman of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) here on Sunday.
He said that the runway of the Karachi Airport was re-opened at 7.50 p.m.
