Flight operation at Quetta International Airport resumed here Sunday after a day break owing to damaged runway. Manager Air Site of Civil Aviation Quetta, Mumtaz Ali Soomro told APP that flight operation at the airport had to be suspended on Saturday as lightening caused a 1.5 feet wide and 6 inches deep aperture in the runaway making landing and take-off of the wide-body aircrafts at the airport unfeasible.
As a result, all incoming and outgoing flights from the provincial capital had to be cancelled in view of passengers' security.
He, however, said operations of ATR flights remained continue and Zahidan-bound PIA flight was operated as per the schedule.
He said damaged runway could not be repaired immediately due to rainy weather.
