A comprehensive cleanliness plan for Rawal Town has been formulated under which after every two months, a complete cleanliness round of all city areas would be conducted while a special sanitation drive would be launched on Monday (today).
District Officer (DO) Solid Waste Management, City District Government Rawalpindi Dr Mazhar Azeem told APP that maximum sanitary workers will perform duties in every round in Rawalpindi City as comprehensive plan has been formulated in this regard by the authorities concerned. It has been decided that sanitation program would be launched on emergency basis from Monday for removing garbage dumps and heaps of filth from all city areas. While in the second phase sanitation campaign would be started in an organised manner throughout the city. In this regard teams comprising four sanitary workers for sanitation purpose at union council were set up which will assist the sanitary workers already appointed in union councils in cleanliness campaign.
Dr Mazhar Azeem informed that Rawalpindi City District Government has finalised a comprehensive cleanliness plan to get rid of garbage and solid waste.
He said maximum available resources would be utilised to fulfil the task during the campaign. He urged the citizens to cooperate with the sanitary workers and dump garbage and solid waste at garbage points from where, these could be removed properly.
Talking to APP Dr Mazhar Azeem informed that under the plan formulated in this regard every union council of the city would be cleaned in a day long cleanliness drive conducted after every two months period.
According to the plan, Rawal town has been distributed into different sectors to make effective the cleanliness arrangements. He informed that the campaign would be started from Monday (April 23) while the comprehensive round would be started from April 26 which will continue till mid of May. Third phase of the cleanliness campaign would be launched on May 17 and continued till the end of the monsoon season.
Under this phase, special cleanliness of small nullah of the city would also be conducted.
