The Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad Agha Shahnawaz has warned all concerned officers, lady health workers (LHWs) and other staff assigned in ongoing 3-day anti-polio campaign to be more vigilant and refrain from showing their apathy else action would be taken against them.
He was presiding over a meeting to review performance of officers, lady health workers and other staff on first and second day of ongoing 3-day anti-polio campaign at Shahbaz Hall Shahbaz Building Hyderabad on Wednesday. He said that since polio cases were reported regularly in different parts of the province owing to negligence and non-seriousness of concerned officers and others working in anti-polio campaigns the zero-tolerance policy had been adopted by the government to ensure complete eradication of polio from society.
Taluka focal persons briefed Agha Shahnawaz about detail of the anti-polio compaign. He expressed his anger over absent of LHWs and other concerned officers on their poor performance in dispatching polio teams in the field in time and asked the District Health Officer for taking strict action against them.
Shahnawaz also directed DHO to assign duties to social mobilisers working under Health Department to motivate and convince and remove misconception of people who refuse to get their children vaccinated. He directed the concerned Revenue Officers and UT Mukhtiarkars to ensure strict monitoring of polio teams.
He directed the concerned officers to ensure payment to vaccinators without any further delay. He also stressed upon close co-ordination among all concerned working in the campaign. Additional Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad Abid Saleem Qureshi, DHO Bux Ali Pitafi, District Focal Person on Polio Dr Ashraf Memon, Revenue Officers and others attended the meeting.
