Pakistan on Monday lodged strong protest with United States for the Sunday drone attack in North Waziristan, killing at least four people and injuring several others. "US Political Councillor Jonathan Pratt was summoned at the Foreign Office by DG-Americas," said Foreign Office spokesman Moazzam Ahmad Khan, adding that protest was lodged over the drone strike.
The Sunday drone strike on an abandoned school in Miranshah is the latest one with a break of about a month following the joint-sitting of the parliament adopted the new terms of engagement with the US in the backdrop of last year Salala Nato air-strike in which at least 24 soldiers were killed.
Some defence analysts argued that the recent drone attack, which was condemned by the Foreign Office soon after its occurrence, was the visible indication of failure of the recent Pak-US talks held during the visit of US special envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan Marc Grossman to Islamabad.
