KARACHI: Urbanite.pk organized a football tournament to commemorate its second month as Karachi's fastest growing online community portal. The two-day tournament began with 32 teams from across the city. The event was unique in that it was open to anyone with a yen for competitive indoor football.
"In keeping with Urbanite's core values of access and convenience, the tournament's only pre requisite was passion, with no entry fee or any restriction in terms of age, education, etc.," said Ozair Bokhari, CEO and founder of Urbanite.pk
"We had a blast - there were teams of 15 year olds playing against 30 year old veterans, all for the love of the game...good job urbanite!” said Zayan of UNFC team.
Teenagers, college kids and young professionals from different walks of life and neighborhoods all came together and competed whole-heartedly on both days. Friends and colleagues of team members also showed up to support their friends as they showed off their athletic prowess on the court.
Falcon United Seniors from Malir Cantonment won the tournament beating Karachi Flames of Lyari Town 8-2. The winners received a cheque of Rs20,000 from Urbanite.pk.
Participating teams included Etihad FC, Well V, AUFC, Angry Birds, Chelsea JFC, QAFC, Flair FC, Street FC, Abdul FC, Gunners B, Gunners A, Infrared FC, Team Heskey, UNFC, Street Freaks, Defence Tigers, Falcon Juniors, Falcon Seniors, PUFC, HUFC, The Losers, Stallions FC, Steeltown FC, Acha Phir, KEWL BOIZ, Monkey FC, Liaqut FC, MKC, Flames 1, Flames 2 and Team 32.
