9th Karachi Literature Festival opens on Friday
KARACHI: The 9th Karachi Literature Festival (KLF) will begin on Friday and continue till Sunday with wide range of sessions to be addressed and participated by literary figures, journalists, educationists, human rights activists and art lovers.
A formal inaugural ceremony scheduled for Friday evening will be followed by parallel sessions including a special tribute to one of the most outstanding poet of the present era Jaun Elia.
Peerzada Salman will be the moderator of the event with the title Aik Hi Shakhs Tha Jehan May Kia: Jaun Elia, with Shakeel Adilzada, Aqeel Abbas Jafri, Muhammad Ahmed Shah, Saif Mahmood to discuss the poet and his work.
Sindhi Mushairo, to be presided by Imdad Hussaini, is another important event, scheduled for Friday evening with Yasir Qazi as the moderator the poetry recital session will be participated Aasi Zamini, Ayaz Gul, Haleem Baghi, Sahar Imdad and Shah Muhammad Pirzada.
Known educationist Baela Raza Jamil will moderate discussion, "Universities or Nurseries of Terrorism?" the same evening with Wasif Rizvi, Muhammad Ali Shaikh, Talib Karim, Mehtab S. Karim, and Farrukh Iqbal as speakers.
The Other Muse: Poetry in English will have Salman Tarik Kureshi as the moderator and Ilona Yusuf, Mehvash Amin, Adrian Husain, Amit Chaudhuri, Sadaf Halai, Tehmina Ahmed, Farida Faizullah, Harris Khalique, Ibrahim Waheed Ogaru, José Oliver, Shireen Haroun among the participants.
Shershah Syed, Sadiah Ahsan Pal, Murad Moosa Khan, Mubashir Zaidi, Uzma Noorani will be among the speakers in a session "Saving our Children from Predators: Role of Civic Society," with Nausheen Ahmad as the moderator.
