MULTAN: British High Commissioner in Pakistan Thomas Drew Friday said the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was a great project which would also be beneficial for many other countries.

Addressing the business community here at the Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (MCCI), he said Pakistan had great importance for the UK which was providing assistance in different projects.

He said any country could get benefit of the CPEC, adding, British companies if given a chance would also take part in the mega project by keeping in view their interest.

He said Pakistan had great geographical importance in the world as it was sharing its borders with two big markets, including China and India. Besides this, Pakistan itself became a big market with a lot of business opportunities, he added.

Commenting on the issue for getting British visa, Thomas Drew said incomplete documentation or policy matters were the main reasons behind this issue.

Earlier, speaking on the occasion, President MCCI Malik Israr Ahmed Awan said Pakistan and British had been enjoying friendly trade relations for a long time. He demanded the British cooperation for the development of value added sector.

He also demanded that representation should be given to the MCCI in 'Made in Pakistan' exhibition to be held in the UK in the current year.
