Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Chief Nawaz Sharif had said that PML-N wanted supremacy of law and implementation of the supreme court decision in letter and spirit. "Early elections are the only solution to the existing crisis in the country," Nawaz said while talking to a delegation of lawyers, which led by former President Supreme Court Bar Association Asma Jehangir called on him at his residence here Monday. Senator Pervaiz Rashid was also present on the occasion.
Nawaz Sharif said PML-N wanted that hidden hands should not have the opportunity to intervene in the general elections this time. He said that the establishment of a non-controversial election commission was essential for holding of fair and impartial elections.
He said that the PML-N was also in favour of the solution of political deadlock in a political manner so that no third force could take advantage of the situation. Matters regarding appointment of new Chief Election Commissioner, formation of caretaker set up for general elections and stability of democratic system came under discussion during the meeting.
The lawyers' delegation also invited Nawaz Sharif to the All Parties Conference being convened on the issues. They said that future of Pakistan is linked with democracy and they are ready to make any sacrifice for the protection of democratic system in the country. Nawaz Sharif accepted invitation to attend All Parties Conference of Supreme Court Bar Association to be held on May 26.
Member Pakistan Bar Council Azam Nazir Tarar, Executive Member Supreme Court Bar Waseem Mumtaz and Rana Shehzad were also present on the occasion. Moreover, a delegation of All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) also met Nawaz Sharif at his Model Town residence. The PML-N President apprised the members of APNS about his party's stance on current political situation of the country. He told them the PML-N was waging a just struggle with sincerity and would achieve success. He also exchanged views regarding the appointment of new Chief Election Commissioner. Further, PML-N President is leaving for interior Sindh on Tuesday (today) on a two-day visit to address public meetings there.
