An accused died in police custody at Shahzad Town Police Station due to alleged torture by the police personnel during interrogation. Police source said that Zafar Kyani s/o Sadiq Kyani was detained by police on Sunday and died in police custody. Police have shifted the corpse to Pakistan Institute of Medical Science (PIMS) for autopsy.
Hospital source said that no external wounds were found on his body during autopsy, however, Medico Legal Officers (MLO) has sent sample of the dead body for chemical examination to determine the actual cause of the death. Police spokesman said that Zafar Kyani s/o Sadiq Kyani r/o Pindorian, Islamabad was wanted by Veharri police in case No 252/12 registered at Saddar Police Station on May 1, 2012, under section 380 PPC.
He was arrested by ASI Sarwar and was kept in Shahzad Town Police Station. He died in Shahzad Town police station and his body was shifted to PIMS to know the actual cause of death as he was patient of blood pressure.
