Sindh Assembly's Rules of Procedure and Privileges Committee on Monday expressed anger over non-appearance of Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan before the committee and again summoned him on May 21. The meeting of the committee was held here at Sindh Assembly building with Ghulam Mujadid Isran in the chair.
After the meeting, Isran said that at least two motions were taken up by the committee. The motion of MPA Imran Zafar Laghari was against PML-N Central leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan while MPA Nawab Taimoor Talpur's motion was against Ex-Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Syed Sohail Akbar Shah. Talpur's motion was deferred as he did not show up in the meeting, however, Sohail Akbar Shah was present in the meeting, he added.
Isran said Chaudhry Nisar had passed derogatory remarks against the Sindh Assembly members. He was summoned by the committee for Monday to clear his position however he did not turn up. He said that Nisar Ali Khan was given an opportunity to clear his position. However, he missed it with no earlier intimation. Again the committee provided him with a chance to appear before the committee on May 21, 2012, otherwise a preliminary report would be forwarded to Speaker Sindh Assembly in the favour of privilege motion and a letter also would be forwarded to National Assembly secretariat for further action, he added.
On the occasion, MQM MPAs Khalid Ahmed and Muqeem Alam, who are also members of the committee, said that their party would not tolerate any derogatory remarks against Sindh, its culture and the elected representatives. They condemned the remarks of Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan. Talking to media, Imran Zafar Laghari, mover of the privilege motion, said that elected representatives of the PPP, MPAs and MNAs from Sindh, would besiege the chamber of Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan in National Assembly if he did not appear before the committee. Besides, a petition would also be submitted in Supreme Court against the Nisar Ali Khan, he announced.
