A high-powered delegation of Pakistan People's Party visited MQM Head Office, Nine Zero, on Monday and held talks with members MQM Co-ordination Committee. The delegation was led by senior PPP leader Amin Faheem. Other members of the delegation were Khursheed Shah, Naveed Qamar and Maula Bux Chandio. Members of the Co-ordination Committee Waseem Aftab, Raza Haroon, Dr Sagheer Ahmed and Salim Tajik represented the MQM side.
On the occasion, Federal Minister Khursheed Shah said that the PPP and MQM had people's mandate in Sindh and both the coalition partners would solve issues amicably. Shah further added the President Asif Ali Zardari has not formed any committee to talk to the members of defunct People's Amn Committee.
He said that MQM was the first party, which responded strongly and opposed the statement of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif over the division of Sindh. To a question, Shah said that the PPP was in favour of local governments' elections. Amin Faheem while talking to media said that no one wanted division of Sindh.
Earlier, the leaders of both parties had agreed to play their positive role for restoration of peace in Sindh, particularly in Karachi. However, MQM leadership expressed its deep concern over the freely movement of criminal elements of Lyari gang war. Earlier, MQM chief while talking to the visiting PPP delegation said that they were all residents of Sindh. Some were old Sindhis and some were new, he added. He said that everyone would become old with the passage of time. He said that the land of Sindh had opened its arms to everyone.
