Italian Ambassador Vincenzo Prati says Italy being a close friend will continue to extend its economic presence in Pakistan. Speaking at dinner hosted by Italian Company Landi Renzo Pakistan, Prati, who will leave soon at end of his four years tenure recalled efforts of his embassy to promote Italian investments, employment, transfer of technology through its continuous dialogue with Pakistani authorities.
On Pakistan's CNG industry, he hoped a positive solution might be found and Landi Renzo would be able to continue operating in Pakistani market. Prati said Italian authorities were closely following any outcome of negotiations between Landi Renzo and Pakistani authorities.
Alberto Barbieri, Chief Executive Landi Renzo Pakistan spoke of billions of rupees invested by his company in Pakistan, ban to import CNG kits and cylinders imposed by Economic Co-ordination Committee on December 15, and impact it is having on CNG industry. He talked of proposals Landi Renzo and its partners supported by Italian Embassy sent to Pakistan authorities on quota of CNG kits that is to be locally manufactured and sold in local market, and partial removal of ban on exports of kits.
