At least nine people including police officer were killed in different incidents of targeted killings in city on Monday, police and rescue services said. Unknown armed men attacked SP Shah Mohammad Shah and his friend Dr Dilshad Ghouri Near Korangi No 3-1/2 in the limits of Korangi police station.
Police said that SP Shah Mohammad had gone to visit his friend, Dr Ghauri, at his clinic near, Bengali Camp, Labour Square, and at the time of his return, gunmen shot them dead outside the clinic. The driver of SP, sitting in car also received bullet injuries. Official at police station told Business Recorder that four gunmen on two motorcycles ambushed with gun fires SP and his friend before fleeing from crime scene.
The bodies were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre Center. DSP Korangi Qasim Ghouri told Business Recorder SP Shah Mohammad was attacked by four assailants outside his friend clinic. He said deceased SP had received four out of five bullets in his head while Dr Dilshad was hit with four bullets, fired from close range.
Injured driver sustained four bullets in his shoulder, he added. The IGP Sindh has also directed to form an investigation committee which will be headed by the DIG East to look into the matter. In another incident, body of a man was found from Korangi No 6 , police said.
The body was recovered near Boys College falling in the limits of Zaman Town police station. Police said that deceased identified as Syed Saeed Gul, 22, was shot dead by unknown men from point blank range. Sources said that deceased had a association with Awami National Party.
A man was gunned down by unidentified armed men in Lines Area on Monday, police said. The deceased Siraj, 28, son of Shamsuddin was attacked by unknown persons near his home falling in the jurisdiction of Brigade police station. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medic-legal formalities. A woman identified as Saeeda Bibi was killed in Ameenabad in the limits of Sharafi Goth police station.
Police said that deceased was tortured to death on domestic dispute. In another act of target killing local cleric belonging to Ahala-e-Sunnat Wal Jamaat was killed in drive-by shooting incident in Gulshan-e-Iqbal area in the limits of Gulshan-e-Iqbal Police station.
A man was also killed in firing incident in Ranchor Line area in the limits of Methadar police station. The deceased was identified as Imran,32, son Fateh Mohamamd. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal facilities. Meanwhile a middle age man succumbed to injuries during treatment after received bullet injuries in an attack of unknown armed men near KPT Underpass.
The deceased was identified as Adnan, 30. Meanwhile a target killer belonging to Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) allegedly involved in murder of four police officials was apprehended. Pak Colony police carried out a raid on a tipoff and arrested the accused Muhammad Yaseen Mehsood alias Naib-Commander from their respective area.
In initial inquiry the accused confessed to have killed police officials Head Constable Nadim Abbasi and Constable Muhammad Sajid and Sub Inspector Sibtain at Sultanabad, Mangopir area while Head Constable Noor-ul-Islam at Pirabad. Police recovered two pistols, and two kilogram hashish from his possession. His accomplice Wahab involved in killing of Sub Inspector Sibtain was already arrested by Mangopir police station. Yaseen was wanted to police in various cases including killing, drug smuggling and fund raising for TTP. Meanwhile police arrested 53 suspects from different areas of the city during last three days and recovered 42 pistols, a repeater and other snatched valuables.
