Leaders of different political and religious parties addressed the workers convention held here the other day under the aegis of Difa-e-Pakistan Council against the proposed restoration of Nato supply routes. In his address, JI Chief Syed Munawwar Hassan said that DPC was prepared for defence of the country's ideological and geographical boundaries.
He was of the view the rulers were restructuring the foreign policy so as to favour the US. The JI chief said that the country should come out of the war on terror as it had brought a bad name to it. The war on terror had opened ways to operations in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhawa, he added.
He asked the political and religious parties to set aside their differences and get united or else the enemies would ruin the state. JI Secretary General Liaquat Baloch said the cowardice of the rulers was pushing the country towards destruction. Baloch said the Nato supply line would provide oxygen to the dying US and Nato forces so the DPC would motivate 18 million people of the country against the decision to restore these routs.
Awami Muslim League Chief Shaikh Rasheed Ahmed said he would support those who would play their role in preventing the restoration of Nato supply lines. He further said that he would be pleased to offer his arrest for offering resistance against the restoration of Nato supply routes.
Hafiz Muhammad Saeed said the war on terror was the greatest deception and lie of the century. Nato supply lines from Karachi would never be allowed, he vowed. Speaking on the occasion, JI Karachi Ameer said it was not the Difa-e-Pakistan Council (DPC) alone that rejected the restoration of Nato supply routes, but the whole nation wanted the same. Mohtasim Elahi Zaheer while speaking on the occasion said that 40 countries were pressing Pakistan for restoration of Nato supply line but the nation would not allow this to happen as it was the question of nation's prestige.-PR
