Professor Mahtab Akbar Rashidi, former chairperson of the department of International Relations, University of Sindh, has urged the government to reconsider and redesign the foreign policy in the context of internal needs and challenges.
She was speaking at a one-day seminar on 'Pakistan's Foreign Policy: A Dilemma, Internal Challenges in New Millennium' organised by the Department of International Relations, University of Sindh at Senate Hall on Monday. Professor Rashidi highlighted the international and internal challenges and said Pakistani nation is the best nation in the world and people of Pakistan including doctors and engineers rendered the outstanding services in all over world.
She said that the foreign policy had always been identified as policy of self abnegation and added that it was blamed that external factors particularly USA played a vital role in shaping of the foreign policy of Pakistan but she added that there were many internal factors posed challenges to the foreign Policy.
She said that Pakistan was an ideological state hence ideology had special place in its foreign policy and it had been a central focus in the foreign policy for all time. She said that the founder of the nation wanted Pakistan to play an honourable role based on the principles and norms of International Law in the arena of international politics.
