The dengue situation is said to be completely under control and the present state of preparedness will help check dengue outbreak in Punjab, especially in Lahore, even after monsoon. These views were expressed by Sri Lankan dengue experts who are in Lahore on the invitation of Chief Minister Punjab for providing technical assistance and training to the local doctors and epidemiologists.
During a meeting with Special Assistant to Chief Minister Punjab on Health Kh Salman Rafique, here on Monday, Sri Lankan experts comprising Chief entomologist of Sri Lanka Dr Paba, Clinical Management Expert Dr Weeraman and Dengue epidemiologist consultant Dr Tissera, observed that local dengue experts and doctors have tremendously enhanced and updated their knowledge and clinical experience during a period of one year.
Salman said that Chief Minister's effective strategy for controlling dengue and solid steps taken by the Punjab government would enable them combat this challenge in a successful manner. Secretary Health Punjab Captain Arif Nadeem (Retd), Addl Secretary Health (Tech) Dr Anwar Janjua, Addl Director General Vector Born Diseases Dr Jaffar Ilyas and Incharge CM Dengue Research Cell Professor Dr Waseem Akram entomologist were also present in the meeting.
