Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz divided into two groups on the eve of Youm-e-Takbeer commemorating Pakistan's attainment of nuclear capability in Multan. City and district bodies organised separate meetings and rallies in a show of strength, while PML-N's Youth Wing organised a large rally to celebrate the day, besides reposing confidence in the leadership of Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif.
The rally led by Abid Sher Ali, MNA, Kashif Nawaz Randhawa, Shehzad Maqbool Bhutta, Shaikh Wajid Shaukat. Muslim Leaguers demanded of the government to celebrate the day as a national day to mark the nuclear detonations on May 28, 1998. The women's wing of the party also celebrated the day by cutting a cake and praising the party chief Nawaz Sharif and his policies. Abid Sher Ali said the entire nation felt proud of being a nuclear nation, but criticised the lukewarm attitude of other political parties in this regard.
Accusing the rulers of compromising on the country's sovereignty and integrity, the PML-N leader said that it was pursuing pro-American and flawed policies. Party activists kicked off the celebrations at midnight, using fireworks. They also took out a procession of torch bearers under the leadership of Bilal Butt, Shahid Mukhtar Lodhi, Shaikh Athar Mumtaz, Matiul Hassan Bukhari and Rao Abrar Ali. A rally was organised under the leadership of Hamza Shahid earlier they cut a cake and used crackers and fireworks.
