Spot basis bids for hard red winter wheat in the US Plains were steady to firmer on Tuesday as harvest pushed rapidly through hot and dry fields. An Oklahoma merchant said he reports of good yields in parts of the state, most with good test weight and protein ranging from 9 to 12 percent. Trucks were in tight supply, merchants reported.
The Kansas Wheat Commission reported Monday that harvest moved rapidly through southern Kansas over the weekend with triple-digit temperatures recorded and high winds. Yields reported over the weekend included fields producing 30-70 bushels per acre. Kansas City Board of Trade hard red wheat futures closed higher on Friday, with the July up cents at $7.00. Markets were closed Monday for the Memorial Day holiday.
