The portfolio of Sindh home department was taken back from the incumbent home minister Manzoor Wasan. President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday informed Wasan of the decision and told him that he could continue as minister without portfolio. Sources close to Manzoor Wasan told this scribe that Wasan held a one-on-one meeting with President Asif Ali Zardari at Bilawal House on Friday.
During the meeting, President Zardari informed Wasan that he would not be continuing as home minister any more. "The portfolio would remain with Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah and you (Manzoor) can work as minister without portfolio," Zardari was quoted as telling Wasan.
On April 26, Manzoor Wasan went on one and half month leave, citing medical treatment as reason. Sources said the home department would not remain with Qaim Ali Shah for long time, adding that the important portfolio would be allotted to any minister or new face from the ruling PPP very soon. When contacted, Manzoor Wasan told Business Recorder that he had himself requested President Zardari to allot the portfolio to any other. He said that he was now well but wanted to take some more rest for the sake of his health.
