Federal Minister for Regulations and Services, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Saturday said that the previous rulers were accountable for failing to produce electricity during their tenures resultantly gap between demand and supply widen. Speaking at ceremony she said the PPP-led government is neither responsible nor accountable for electricity crisis.
Despite of this negligence of past governments, present government is making hectic efforts for the redressal of energy crisis for ensuring production wheel in full motion. The Minister said that it is a credit of PPP-led government for presenting fifth budget which was prepared keeping in view the global economic condition. She termed the budget balanced, tax-free and people's friendly.
Dr Firdous said the PPP-led government will complete its constitutional tenure despite of conspiracies of anti-democratic element who wants to detract democratic process of the country. She said that PPP leadership is making all-out efforts for strengthening democratic institutions and promotion of democracy at gross roots level in the country. The Minister said that government will continue its efforts for resolving the problems of the masses especially the poor segment of the society adding that huge funds had been set aside in this budget for Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) aimed at providing financial support to the poor.
