Sindh government has appointed Shakeeb Qureshi as new Chairman of Sindh Revenue Board (SRB), according to a notification issued by the Services, General Administration and Co-ordination department. Well-informed sources inside the Services, General Administration and Coordination department and SRB told Business Recorder that the Chief Secretary Sindh notified Qureshi as the new Chairman of SRB a couple of days ago.
A proper procedure was followed in the appointment of Qureshi as Chairman SRB. The committee made for this purpose interviewed him along with five others short listed as candidates for the job, sources said.
Sources close to Qureshi said that he had worked in Police as Superintendent of Police (SP). Later, he quit this job and settled in the UK many years ago.
Soon after joining the SRB, Qureshi went on leave for about two weeks. He would go to the UK in order to settle down all his personal and professional matters, sources said.
Sources also said that Qureshi was working as SP Clifton when Benazir Bhutto's brother Mir Murtaza Bhutto was gunned down along with his several companions by unknown persons in Clifton in 1996.
