A "week" was celebrated as awareness on environmental pollution in Wah Cantt under the auspices of POF Hospital. At the end of week, a "Walk" was arranged which started from POF Sports Complex and ended at Ordnance Club Wah Cantt in which people from all walks of life including students of all schools of Wah Cantt, POF employees and their families, representatives of social organizations and ladies participated in large number.
The participants were carrying banners and placards on which the importance of clean environment was inscribed. Addressing the participants at the end of Walk at Ordnance Club Lieutenant General Muhammad Ahsan Mehmood, Chairman POF Board, remarked that the students should not only take the responsibility to keep their Homes, Mohallah and educational institutes clean but also persuade the other citizens to play their role in maintaining neat and clean environment so that the actual welfare society could be established.
It is not possible by arranging a "Walk" or celebrating a week one time but cleanliness should be adopted as day-to-day habit and it must reflect in our behaviour. He stressed upon the participants to make Wah Cantt as "Wah" in its real meaning. POF Chairman directed POF administration to arrange another walk after six months on this subject and it must be further extended. POF chief congratulated the administrative staff for making excellent arrangements for the Walk.
Earlier, Commandant POF Hospital Brigadier Shahid Mehmood gave the detail of various programmes held during the week which included cleanliness campaign through school children, plantation, poster competitions, speech competitions among the students and lectures on clean environment.-PR
