The ruling Pakistan People's Party (PPP) on Thursday deferred the restoration Malir and Lyari Development Authorities Bill despite the house discussed in detail during the Sindh Assembly session. With Speaker Nisar Khuhro in chair, the house in the absence of MQM lawmakers took up the bill as they had staged a protest walkout from the house against law and order situation in Karachi.
However, with returning to their desks, suddenly, Sindh Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Ayaz Soomro stood and requested the Speaker to defer the bill till Friday session. He contended that the Sindh Local Bodies Minister was not present in the house, therefore, its approval should be delayed, as the bill needs some amendments. Earlier, the lawmakers appreciated the bill and criticised Pervez Musharraf for abolishing the Lyari and Malir Development Authorities.
