Punjab Assembly in its 38th session on Thursday tabled 12 bills and sent them to standing committees for getting an answer required within period of one month of their sending by the Chair. The Assembly on the occasion in its deliberations considered and passed 'The Parks and Horticulture Authority Bill 2011' and 'The Punjab Animals Slaughter Control (Amendment) Bill 2012'.
Punjab Assembly also passed three bills 'The Evacuee Property and Displaced Persons Laws (Repeal) (Amendment) Bill 2011, 'The Settlement Commissioners (Validation of Orders) (Repeal) Bill 2011,'The Punjab Public Defender Service Act 2007 (Repeal) Bill 2011' during the day. These bills were referred to assembly by Governor.
Punjab government contention with passing of these bills remained that after 18th amendment, subject in the bills were under the jurisdiction of provincial government, adding further that they were no more in the concurrent list, or a part of the federal legislation list. In the House, on a Call Attention Notice by former Leader of the Opposition Chaudhry Zaheeruddin regarding dacoities in jewellery shops, Law Minister Rana Sana Ullah stated that authorities were taking due action on these incidents.
In the Punjab Assembly Secretariat a resolution by MPA Shams Haider, MPA Shuja Khanzada, Humaira Awais Shahid was submitted during the day asking federal government to take written oath from their employees that their nationality was not dual. The Resolution further asked that time was granted to persons who held a dual nationality, to abdicate it.
In failing to do so employee holding that dual nationality be disqualified from service, resolution pointed. In the House queries on Forests was dealt by Minister Ahmed Ali Aulakh. Punjab government is expected to present its fiscal budget for year 2012-13 on Saturday. A new finance minister or a minister with added portfolio of finance minister is likely to take over and present the budget in the provincial assembly.
