CNG filling stations across southern Punjab remained shut on Friday, as the strike called by All Pakistan CNG Association entered third day on Friday. People across southern Punjab faced difficulties, as availability of petrol was also limited. People urged the authorities concerned to take action to address the issue. The city presented a deserted look, as traffic remained very thin throughout the day.
There was a dearth of passenger buses, vans and cargo vehicles. People said they had been facing difficulties in reaching their work places, hospitals, schools and business activity was also affected by the closure of transport. Khawja Muhammad Shafiq, a local leader of traders, said that CNG dealers' strike was badly hitting businesses as retailers were unable to visit wholesale markets from villages and towns because of non-availability of transport, adding that limited availability of petrol was also adding to their financial difficulties.
