Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Barrister Masood Kausar, while noting the approval of up-gradation of Kohat District Headquarter Hospital to Category "A", has said it was a project of great importance to become a teaching level health institution which required more concerted efforts and sufficient resources to make this possible.
Presiding over a briefing on the prevailing state of working of the hospital at its premises in Kohat on Friday, the Governor pointed out that keeping in view the emergent needs of the students of Kohat Institute of Medical Sciences, "we indeed have to make serious efforts to do needful at the earliest."
Besides Commissioner, Kohat Division, Sahibzada Muhammad Anis, Provincial Special Secretary Health Noor-ul-Eeman and other senior authorities of the department and the hospital were also present on this occasion. While taking exception of the delayed process of up-gradation of the hospital, the Governor also stressed the need to take immediate measures to fill up all the vacant posts of the hospital at the earliest. This hospital, he added, was extremely important to meet the healthcare requirements of a vast population of the area as well and there was a need to ensure it fully functional.
He also assured to take necessary steps to provide MRI machine at the hospital. The Governor also administered polio vaccine drops to a number of children as a symbolic gesture to promote awareness among the masses about the fatal effects of the disease on the new generations.
Talking on different points the Governor stressed that any future expansion and addition in the DHQ hospital must be in accordance with its original master plan. He further advised the concerned authorities to integrate an under construction block with the existing building.
Responding to another point the Governor also urged the need to make special arrangements for ensuring sustained supply of energy and lightening system at the premises of the hospital. Meanwhile the Governor was informed that Rs 235.65 had been approved for up-gradation of the hospital as Category "A" and with which all its existing facilities including the strength of the doctors, specialists and other staff would almost be doubled.
Meanwhile, a delegation of prominent literary figures of Kohat comprising office bearers and members of the Anjuman-e-Traqi-e-Urdu called on the Khyber Pkhtunkhwa Governor, Barrister Masood Kausar at Commissioner House, Kohat on Friday. The delegation led by Professor Shujaat Ali Rahi, President and Shahid Zaman, General Secretary of the Anjuman while apprising the Governor about their activities also requested him to help in making the newly construct library under the aegis of the provincial Local Government and Rural Department fully functional.
They said their Anjuman had the credit of holding six Mushaairas which were attended by renowned poet personally at Kohat. They also suggested creation of a Chair after the name of great Ahmed Faraz at Kohat University of Science and Technology. Governor appreciated the achievements of the Anjuman Tarraqi Urdu Kohat and assured to take necessary steps to materialise their proposal.
