Veteran Kashmiri Hurriyat leader, Syed Ali Geelani demanded unmasking of the killers of a minor girl, whose body was recovered from the river Jhelum, Indian Occupied Kashmir a few days ago. Syed Ali Geelani visited Fateh Kadal area of Srinagar and expressed condolences with the parents of the minor girl. Addressing a gathering of mourners on the occasion, he said.
"This appears to be a murder case. An innocent child has been brutally killed. The police should have swiftly gone after the perpetrators instead of harassing the bereaved family with pointless questions." Kashmir Media Service reported it. He said that the police should adopt a humane and dignified approach if investigations required the questioning of the victim's relatives.
The veteran leader said that the police were too busy pursuing religious-minded people and azadi activists to go after thieves, crooks and murderers. "The job of police should have been to eradicate crime, but it is too busy chasing religious-minded people, azadi activists, and darasgah managements. These individuals have to report to police stations regularly to be insulted, harassed and humiliated, he added.
