Director General Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) Arif Mahmood on Thursday said that the pre-monsoon period will start during the last week of June this year. However, the pre-monsoon rain spells are likely to start from the first week of July, he said while talking to APP. The DG Met office said the department will issue the predictions about expected rain spells as well as the intensity of rains during the pre-monsoon period within next three days.
Arif Mahmood indicated the chances of isolated dust-thunderstorm and rain at Rawalpindi, D.G Khan, Malakand, Hazara, Bannu, D.I Khan, Zhob, Mirpur Khas, Hyderabad divisions, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan during the next 24 hours. While hot and dry weather is expected mainly in most parts of the country. The chief amount of rainfall recorded during last 24 hours were Mithi 28mm, Malamjaba 14mm, Astore 2mm and Muzaffarabad and Skardu 1mm.
