Police arrested two protesters after they breached the security fence at Heathrow Airport on Sunday just one month before the London Olympics, although no flights were disrupted, officials said. Heathrow said the demonstrators were members of Fathers 4 Justice, a group which campaigns for better rights for divorced fathers to see their children, and which has carried out high-profile stunts in the past.
"Two individuals believed to be members of Fathers 4 Justice breached the perimeter fence at Heathrow but they were quickly apprehended by police and there has been no impact on airport operations," a spokeswoman told AFP.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said they were alerted at around 1225 GMT to "reports of two men airside at Heathrow Airport. Two men were subsequently arrested and remain in police custody".
The police spokesman said the incident was "not terrorist related".
Sunday was Fathers' Day in Britain and many other countries.
