Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) have signed a mutual co-operation agreement aiming at enhancing technical and vocational training in both cities. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to this effect was signed in Istanbul during a meeting between KMC Administrator, Muhammad Hussain Syed and Deputy Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Ahmed Salamat, in which delegation from Pakistan and high officials of IMM were also present.
KMC under the agreement with IMM will provide in Istanbul the services to improve Trainers Staff/Training of Trainers by the Master Trainers. The fields and content of the training will be negotiated and agreed by both sides. Both cities shall invite each other to workshops, symposiums, fairs and handcrafts exhibitions to be organised by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality-ISMEK and Karachi Metropolitan Corporation training institutions. The host cities of these activities (Istanbul-Karachi) shall cover the transport costs of the representatives that they invite to. A symposium on Co-operation between Asian Countries of Organization of Islamic Conference on Vocational Training and Education shall be organized together.
The MoU shall come into effect upon its date of signing and shall remain in effect for three years and shall be automatically renewed unless one or both of the parties communicate their intent of resignation. Administrator Karachi, Muhammad Hussain Syed on this occasion said that about 70 Vocational Training Centres presently exist in Karachi where the youths needs to be imparted with training on modern lines and this requirement would be fulfilled through mutual co-operation agreement with Istanbul Municipality. He said that we have agreed to enhance co-operation between Karachi and Istanbul in various fields.-PR
