At least two persons, including a homeopathic doctor, were killed in separate incidents of violence in the Sindh metropolis on Wednesday. Four persons, including a political activist, were reportedly injured in various parts of the city. According to police and rescue sources, a homeopathic doctor named Abdul Raheem, 55, was fired upon by gunmen inside his clinic Haji Sher Mohammad Goth. Abdul Raheem used to live in Siddique Goth in Malir.
His body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for completion of legal formalities. DSP Rao Iqbal said victim had some disputs with the Salari community, adding that Imran and Sarmad Salari might have been involved in his murder. The officer said the victim originally belonged to Balochistan. No case was registered till the filing of this report.
A trailer driver, identified as Subhan Allah, 28, was gunned down by unidentified armed motorcycle riders near Keamari in the jurisdiction of Jackson police station. The deceased, who lived in the same area, received multiple shots on his upper torso and died instantly. The deceased hailed from Peshawar and his killing might be motivated by ethnic reasons. His body was taken to the Civil Hospital Karachi for autopsy. A case was registered.
A 19-year-old boy, Muhammad Waqas was injured in Gulistan-e-Jauhar in the limits of Sharea Faisal police station. Meanwhile, a man, Shafiq, said to be an activist of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), was assaulted by unknown armed men near Mazedar Haleem in Samanabad police precincts.
The victim, who received multiple gunshot wounds, was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) where doctors declared his condition critical. Police could not ascertain his political affiliation. No case was registered till the filing of this report. Abdul Rehman, 28, was also injured in firing over a personal dispute in the limits of Haidery police station. The victim was shifted to Abbasi Shaeed Hospital for treatment.
