Pakistan Tehreek Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has claimed that PTI would sweep next general election and on assuming power would take tax collection to Rs 4000 billion. He also announced that PTI would enhance tax-base and lower the tax-rate.
Addressing a reception hosted by Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) here at a local hotel here late Sunday evening, he said federal and provincial governments have failed to resolve people's problems. He said all political stakeholders have increased problems of people rather than resolving them. He said Pakistanis have repeatedly given chances to all political parties who ruled the country for past many decades. Now, they (people) should give us a chance, PTI would change the country's fate by throwing out the out-dated system, he added.
He said if any minister proved corrupt in PTI Cabinet, strict action would be initiated against that minister. Our cabinet would comprise of only 20 members. Imran said in a recent meeting with Chinese politicians, he learnt that around 150 ministers had been punished for corruption resulting in complete check on corruption and letting them becoming world's second largest economy in a short period of time, he said.
He said PTI would de-politicize police and people of concerned area would choose the area SHO for themselves rather than the MNA of that area. "With depoliticizing police, peace would be ensured and people would come forward voluntarily for deweaponization. Foreign investment would also get a boost," Imran added. He said that in 2007, foreign investment stood at $5 billion and now, it is only $660 million due to inefficiency of the government. He added that he would invite only overseas Pakistanis who have billions of dollars and pounds for investment purposes. They need only security and firm support from the government and PTI would provide them all-out support.
Imran said in his government, MPs would focus on legislation and not a single penny would be provided to them in the head of development funds. It is the basic job of the local government and PTI would introduce a unique model of local government system in the country, he added.
Regarding war on terror, Khan said that had we been in the government, we would have quit the war on terror. He said PTI was of the view that it is not our war; this is American's war. And, we (Pakistanis) have lost billions of dollars due to this, he added. PTI would enhance relations with all the neighbouring countries, he added. Earlier, FPCCI Chairman Haji Fazal Qadir Sherani welcoming Imran, said that FPCCI is representing the country's trade, chamber and commerce organisations. It has always supported governments on the issues relating to economy, trade and commerce, from time-to-time. He said that present government has failed to resolve the issues of traders, He asked whether PTI had any plan to resolve all these issues or not? Tariq Saeed, Shaikh Haroon Rasheed and other businessmen also spoke on the occasion.
