Sindh Health Minister, Dr Saghir Ahmed has called for initiating stern action against those selling substandard and expired medicines. He was presiding a meeting of the district health officers and officials of health department here on Monday. A statement said that at the meeting concern was expressed that in some districts of the province substandard and expired medicines were being sold at some of the medical stores, which are harmful for the human health.
The Minister directed that district health officers to form teams with drug inspectors for checking such incidents. He said that those playing with the lives of people do not deserve any leniency and that strict action be taken against them. Dr Saghir instructed that dispensaries at the hospitals should be inspected regularly and it should be ensured that no expired medicines are stored there. He said that provision of medical facilities to the people in the province is our mission which would continue without any distinction. He also appealed to the people that while purchasing medicines they should also check the expiry dates and identify those selling expired medicines so that action is initiated against such persons.
