The Lahore High Court (LHC) has directed all judicial officers to mention names of counsels and state lawyers in judgements of all cases including civil and criminal nature.
LHC Member Inspector Team (MIT) Abdul Sattar has issued a letter to all district and sessions Judges as well as Presiding officers in the province and said that it has been noticed with grave concern that judges while recording interim/final orders/judgements in civil and criminal cases, mark attendance of parties counsel without mentioning their names.
The MIT also directed the judges while recording evidence of the parties in civil and criminal cases the name of counsel cross-examining the witness shall be particularly mentioned before the start of cross-examination. Moreover, every judicial officer while signing each order/judgement passed in civil and criminal case shall necessarily note down his full name with designation and date thereof. The letter says that the D and SJ concerned shall ensure the provision of requisite name stamps to every judicial officer posted in the district.
All the judicial officers have been directed to follow the directions in letter and in spirit as violation of it will invite serious consequence for them, the letter says and adds that lawyers have also been asked to cooperate for making the scheme a success. He said this careless and inefficient practice breeds confusions and problems in subsequent or future proceedings of cases before appellate courts. This practice should be abandoned immediately as it creates hurdles in the dispensation of justice, he added.
