Farooq Sattar elected as convener by MQM-P’s PIB faction
The PIB faction of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) elected Dr Farooq Sattar as the convener in intra-party elections held on Sunday.
The intra-party elections were held on Sunday at KMC Ground in Karachi's PIB Colony area and at MQM-P's Hyderabad's office. According to an announcement, Sattar won 9,423 votes in the intra-party elections and will now run all matters related to the party.
According to local media reports, the Bahadurabad group, however, termed the intra-party elections as illegal and a statement issued read, “Only the Rabita Committee can make policy decisions.”
Farooq Sattar ready to accept Bahadurabad faction’s nominees for Senate
On February 12, the Rabita Committee had removed Sattar from the party convener’s post and replaced him with Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui as the new convener. Sattar later announced to hold intra-party elections to elect the new party head.
For the past two weeks, there had been an altercation between the two MQM-P factions regarding candidates nomination for the Senate elections.
